This is such fun. i have inadvertently distracted you from the important message above. So if you read this just remember I have just wasted a few seconds of your life that you will never get back.
Thank you. My roommate was playing with a friend..and once my roommate lost (hehe) I asked for them to leave it there so I could use it.
I've always loved the detail in this one... the figures, the board, the shading. Very realistic; your drawing is like taking a picture and copying it by hand.

Looks exactly like a game in-progress. Nicely done, love.

It actually was a game in progress, or rather, an ending. Mark was playing Char last year in my room, and she added the knocked down pieces, but the dragon guy in the corner is the king in check mate. Hard to tell cause the set was dragons and I wasn't sure how to shade them..they were silver and gold. <3
I hardly ever see people who actually own those unique sets. I looked for one a few years ago, and to get one with the sculpted figures (and of good quality), you had to buy like marble or pewter or something. It ran rather expensive, but it was something I wanted for a long time.

I ended up getting a marble chess set for xmas one year. The figures weren't sculpted, but the set was beautiful nonetheless. Within a year it had been dropped, chipped, cracked and broken. So much for that idea.

Still, beautiful. I like the close-up perspective cutting off the rest of the room. In this case, the focus on the board really brings the scene alive for me.

Heh, Mark's set came from Spencers, and it wasn't too fancy. He dropped one and when it broke it definitely was not marble or pewter.

There's a shop in Edinboro that has a lot of unique things in it...gems, daggers, chess sets..lol. When you come up in the spring, I'll take ya to it.
The last one I saw was in Mexico, about 6 years ago. I kind of stopped looking when I realized that even there where most things are at least slightly cheaper compared to prices in the states, it was gonna cost 140$ for one of the type and quality I was looking.

I'm like ooooh, shiny! Pretty magickal things... /pandacatracoon

And then I saw the price tag and walked away quickly, lol.

Lol, yeah, they sell for over 100. Actually, a lot in his shop is very high in numbers cause..well..it's all high quality stuff. I like browsing..but I'll never buy.

...I take that back. If I saw something I thought my mom or brothers or you or Cass or whoever would like...I'd probably buy it. But nothing for myself ;)
Don't waste your money on a chess set for me though. I'd never use it. Nobody around to play with...
